Easter in May! Between working on the lawn, gardening and planting, I haven’t spent a lot of time indoors with my accumulating photos. I can’t believe that we’re almost into June. Suddenly time seems to be passing even quicker than usual. And June promises to be pretty busy too, especially with Amelia’s school finishing for the year and various activities associated with that.
Two months ago, when it was Easter……
We started out at the lake where Amelia got a chance to find her Easter basket. She found lots of books, toys, a couple bathing suits and a little candy. I’m not sure how long this tradition will last, but we used the same basket as last year and had Amelia set it out for the Easter bunny to fill. It’s a nice sturdy basket and I love the idea of reusing it (and the paper grass in the bottom of it). We carried it all the way from Maine, and it came in useful since we needed it for the Easter egg hunt we attended (and it just happened to still be in the trunk of the car). She spent a little while going through her things before we got dressed and headed over to have breakfast with the family.
I had brought plastic Easter eggs to fill for our own private hunt, and it was so much fun to have both Desmond and Amelia searching. We had a couple dozen of eggs, and Amelia loved having them almost all to herself. Poor Desmond didn’t stand a chance (but I bet he’ll give her a better challenge next year). Now I know why Easter egg hunts only last 2 minutes. She was running every which way looking for eggs which contained stickers, yogurt raisins, jelly beans and chocolate eggs.
Great Aunt Nancy had special Easter treats for Amelia and Desmond…so they got two baskets this Easter.
Yay! Lipstick! She still pulls it out and uses it. Thanks Nancy! Looks like Katie wants an egg too.
After brunch, the hunt and some playing, Artie, Amelia and I headed back to the lake to relax. It turned out to be a really nice afternoon. It was warm enough for Amelia and Artie to get out to look for turtles we saw basking in the sun on the far shore.
Lots of migrating geese.
Katie went swimming, of course.
And Amelia got to take her shoes off to play on the shore and in the mud.
And then later, the family came to us and we had a low-key and very pleasant cookout together.
